Main Duties
Highly skilled team member will leverage enterprise development skills to deliver high quality, robust technical solutions on applications supporting up to several hundred users. Must be able to communicate with local or remote team members and assist in developing their skills to benefit the wider team.
Take full project lifecycle responsibility:
- Design solutions which are consistent with the team’s strategic technology direction and can be delivered within required time scales.
- Hands-on development of solutions taking a test driven approach. Ensure that projects follow suitable (right-sized) development process.
- Determine and execute suitable system testing strategy
- Plan and coordinate packaging and deployment of applications by appropriate teams
Overall project management responsibility will be taken by the development team lead but developers are expected to be delivery focused. They take part in producing work breakdown structures and estimates and take ownership of these once agreed.
Additional responsibilities:
- Taking part in department or bank wide technical forums and/or initiatives. Leverage technical, communication and influencing skills to achieve win-win outcomes.
- Identify issues within projects, processes or procedures and look to provide or influence solutions
- Assist with second line support when issues cannot be resolved by follow-the-sun first line support team (usually within standard working hours)
- Proactive communication with local and remote team members in person, over the phone or in video conferences
Essential experience/skills
- Knowledge of object oriented concepts
- Knowledge of design patterns
- Experience with bug tracking and source control systems, e.g. Jira, Perforce, SVN
- Good communication skills and ability to work with others
- Self-starter, able to take on responsibility, and work independently
- For Java experience with Linux/Unix
- For C# experience with Windows internals
Nice to have
- Experience with relational databases, particularly Oracle
- Experience with ICE
- Experience working with frameworks
- Experience writing functional/technical specifications
